Description
Salvia officinalis, Lamies family .
A Mediterranean aromatic plant with greyish-green oblong leaves and purple-pink flowers, Sage has the reputation of preserving the health of those wise enough to grow it in their garden. Its fragrant infusion is delightful. dried Sage leaves are traditionally used to stimulate digestion, fight against infection related fatigue, menstrual disorders as well as to heal wounds and canker sores.
They contain essential oil, flavonoids, terpenes and phenolic acids.
Use & Special precautions

Preparation: Add 5 g (1 tablespoon) per cup, steep for 10 min. Drink 1 or 2 cups a day.
Properties and beneficial combinations
- for better digestion: blend with Melissa, 2 g of each plant per cup. Drink 1 cup after meals for pains or flatulence.
- for women: for menopausal indications, alternate with yarrow in cures of 15 days (2 g of yarrow per cup, 3 cups per day). 15 days of yarrows, 15 days of Sage. During the pre-menopausal stage, avoid oestrogenic plants such as soybeans, sage or hops, but take yarrow instead in 10 to 20 day regimens per cycle, at the beginning of the cycle.
Precautions for use
Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women because of its hormonal activity.
